1...The Brochure For Our Coming  Annual Conference And Meeting Is Now Available On The Future Events Page Of Our Website.  You May Send Your Registration At Any Time Until The Deadline On March 4.  However, Our Treasurer Will Not  Be Available To Process Registrations Until February 4.

 

GAPT Is Offering An Outstanding Speaker, Kimberly Vanderdussen Who Will Present The Topic developmental & experiential play therapy in the treatment of childhood trauma and attachment On Friday followed by her Saturday topic of sensory integration and self regulation in play therapy.

 

for a multitude of reasons, GAPT has decided to move the location of our annual spring conference and meeting.  we are not going far, just across the street from the formerly holiday inn.

2...On January 29 Kids Enabled Is Hosting A Free Parent Fair.  I Suggest That You Encourage Parents Of Special Needs Children (OT/Speech, etc.) To Attend.  GAPT Will Have A Booth And Will Also Present A Short Lecture At 2:40PM.  The Kids Enabled Website Can Be Accessed Here.

3...GAPT in recent months has provided three free workshops to graduate students from Clark Atlanta university, mercer university, and Georgia state.  the purpose was to provide an educational outreach to grad students who wished to learn about play therapy.

4...Watch For The January Edition Of Atlanta Parents The Big Book Of Information (A Family Resource Guide).  GAPT Will Have An Advertisement In The Book.

5...bill burns, executive director of APT recently wrote...

                  "you may earn non-contact credit by completing tests based upon the books and audio programs in our e-learning center (you can listen to the latter fREE.)  these programs are not intended to compete with programs offered by approved providers and only feature niche topics hard to find elsewhere.  although you may prefer to attend workshops in-person, explore the center and know your distance learning options."

10…I want everyone to be aware that aPT has a brochure, which can be used to promote play therapy.  it is titled why play therapy?  This full-color brochure introduces play therapy to the general public and other mental health professionals.  It includes photos and research citations and we have given them extensively at outreaches where we promote play therapy. GAPT has a supply and will provide you with a sample copy at your request. Email your request to me at trudypostsprunk@charter.net

11...I want to recommend that you read and share Kids enabled magazine with parents of children with learning differences.  this magazine is no longer published in paper format but is available on the web at www.kidsenabled.org

14...as of April 2009, APT has made a change to the number of individual supervision sessions that are required when you earn them from an rPT-S. for more information click here.
