in the
fall of 2004 the board of gAPT decided to begin sponsoring
play therapy research by agreeing to Offer grants for such work.
the board believes that research into how and why play therapy works
is badly needed and is an important part of our mission.
at this
time we are accepting research proposals only from Doctoral students at georgia state university in atlanta, georgia. those interested
in making an application need to contact dr. joanna white at jwhite@gsu.edu
her phone numbers is
404-651-2550. you may also contact her by contacting the
counseling and psychological services department at the
university.
it
should be noted that while grants are now available only to Doctoral students
at georgia state university, the board will consider doctoral students at
other universities if we can establish appropriate contact with a play therapy
faculty member. The faculty member would need to be one who
typically teaches play therapy and assumes responsibility for
doctoral
research. an iRB approved proposal is necessary. students are encouraged to have their professor
contact us because we are Interested in expanding Play Therapy
Research.
contact can be made to
trudypostsprunk@charter.net or to any board member.
one
of the requirements for a gAPT grant is that the doctoral student must
provide a summary of their research to gAPT which will
be placed below. as such summaries are
added here, those on our email database will be notified of its
addition. to be added to our email database, please send
notification to trudypostsprunk@charter.net
the grant money will not be paid until the
research and a brief oral presentation are completed to the satisfaction of 1) the faculty member and
2) the board of gAPT.
